Thomas and Friends Videos

The story begins when Thomas is racing with Speedy Spencer, who is a bit of a snooty engine. Spencer, who is often antagonist and boastful, tries to annoy Thomas about his size.

Speedy Spencer is also rude to the other trains. He mocks them and calls the other trains names like slow poke. Consequently, the other engines talk about him behind his back and call him the bossy boiler.
Children will notice how impolite, arrogant and overly competitive Spencer is, and also the lessons that Speedy Spencer learns at the end of the story.

During the racing competition with Speedy Spencer, Thomas almost has an accident as he falls off the rails and finds himself in the woods. There he meets Hiro, an old engine who has been hiding out on the Island.

Thomas finds out that the reason Hiro decided to hide himself away from the judgmental eyes of the public, was because he feared he would be turned into scrap as he is now old and rusty. Thomas helps to boost Hiro's confidence by offering to help restore him and help make him feel and look like new again.

Thomas vows to do his best to revive Hiro to his former glory as the Master of the Railways.

Despite the mocking of Spencer and the obstacles that he faces along the way, Thomas and his friends manage to keep Hiro a secret until the restoration is complete.

Thomas portrays the character of a friend who is always willing to help without expecting anything in return.
Likewise, the trust given by Hiro to Thomas is another notable characteristic that shows the true value of friendship. Just like anyone else who gets ridiculed and constantly mocked by others, Thomas felt the pain. Even though he does get mad at Spencer, Thomas learns to control his anger for Hiro's sake.

Thomas decides to go with the flow and suffer Spencer's mocking so that Spencer doesn't discover Hiro and destroy all of their plans to restore him. However, Spencer does learn about Hiro in the end and instead of revealing the secret to everyone, he joins the other engines to help Hiro.
Spencer shows his compassion by helping Thomas and his friends as together they give Hiro a new lease of life.

This is an excellent dvd for young children, as they are entertained by the fun and games of Thomas and his friends, and at the same time, learn some valuable life lessons.
